Tubes for a tube

Morning all,

I hope you are all enjoying your Easter eggs; I, however, due to my diet constraints must make do with low fat biscuits and no milk chocolate. One stone off with the past 5 weeks, and another 3/4 stone still needs to go.

Anyway, to get back on topic - I was out riding a bike yesterday!!!! First ride of the year - how bad is that? So, i thought I would go out again today. It seems that early morning is the best time, little traffic on the roads locally. I went out this morning at 745 and was 1 mile from home when i got a puncture. With my extensive mechanical knowledge (LOOLOLOL) i was able to change the tube but I did not want to continue on my trip as i only had one spare, so i did a quick u-turn and returned home.

Now the questions -
Should i repair the punctured tube?
I need more spares with 35mm/40mm valves - any pointers to suppliers?

I was told by someone who knows about these things to carry 3 spare tubes (Thanks Mr Raleigh) and, as always, he was right. These lessons are hard to learn and i am a slow learner.

Enjoy the rest of your Easter break (if you get one),

Richard

I usually get by with one spare tube and a box of self adhesive Park patches (which I use before the tube). Punctures are a way of life on the back roads here due to loads of flint. When a tube reaches 5 repairs I bin it. I buy in tens - currently on eBay 291115526256 which are fine.

Re:

Raced the retro today, took one tube and one canister but got a two pinch flats at the same time. Needless to say one tube was not enough. Always go out with two tubes or two tubs it is just not worth the risk.

as for repairing why bother. Patches mostly work but they sometimes fail and then that patched spare is not a spare anymore it becomes a problem. tubes are not expensive just buy a box of 25 I do you a deal and you will sorted for a year. there are also some good deals online too. Having an endless supply of tubes is one of the reasons I started my shop.
