Trek Y Frame 17” : Raw Carbon Fibre

Ebay Listing:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trek-Y22-17-P ... 338dc29baa

(Sorry, I'm a noob on here, so may have missed loads of etiquette, so apologies in advance)

This bike is an ex-Trek Team Y22 frame, is well used and has just had a full recent service at a reputable dealer, with new bearing sets and cables. This is an extremely strong & lightweight frame and serious fun to ride on medium downhill courses or even just cross-country type medium to hard technical trails. There’s mixed reviews on this bike but I have found it amazing to control and a great show-stopper and talking point wherever I have gone riding!

I’m selling as I have just upgraded to another slightly larger bike as I am 6’2” and don’t really have room for, or need a second bike. The selling price is for the full bike. I can sell just frame but I don’t need any of the running gear so I can’t change the price even if you just want the frame I’m afraid.

Re:

i've moved this topic to the mtb ebay watch section.

first of all welcome to the forum,

regarding the bike though, hmm without meaning to be rude, i think you're over selling it. it may have once been a "team" frame, the rest of the components are basic at best, no "team" rider would be using alivio gears and zac2000 wheels (which are from raleigh) and the fork looks more like a z5 than a z3 and certainly doesn't have 5.1" of travel, maybe 3" max as when i sold them i think they quoted 80mm.

most of the posters here know specs in their heads from back in the day right up to now, so most here will notice these things. my suggestion would be to edit your listing a bit, lay off the it's a "team" bike etc.

:)

Re: Trek Y22 17” (Professional Trek Team Bike) : Raw Carbon Fibr

Hi, It's a nice frame, good luck with the sale.

Just as an FYI the fork has 100mm or 3.9 inches of travel, not 5.1.

Re:

Points taken Jonny, I'm also a novice as well as a noob so thanks for the advice. Just relaying what I was sold. You guys seem quite helpful!

Re:

most guys here know what they are looking at, if you are a novice and have been "told" something it may be possible that some one has guilded the lilly a bit regarding the team thing, these frames were available to the customer as a standard model, did you get it as a complete bike like this? the spec would originally have been 8 or 9 speed xt right through with a rockshox fork and xt v brakes as standard and all the finishing kit would have been Trek's own brand "Icon", the fact that it has been so down specced from that suggests to me that at some point in it's 17ish years it may have been stolen, stripped then rebuilt with what you see here.

Re: Trek Y22 17” : Raw Carbon Fibre

The graphics, if factory original, suggest it is a 1997 Y33 frame. The naked carbon model in 1996 was for the Y22. The frames were identical, and the only difference was the shock.

I've seen some other ex-team bikes come with the provenance to justify its history and asking price.

Re:

Its a 22. A yll came painted (I know I had one) it also had a vanilla spring rear shock. Its a mk1 as the mk2,s had a different designed frame with the cable guides. Spec aside these are great bikes and id love another one good luck with the sale.
