Trek 420, 1989 or 1990 Model, either Frame only or Complete Bike.
Looking for the above mentioned, frame, or complete bike. Not concerned about components. Images with details of '89 and '90 models below message...
I realise I could quite easily get something else similar or better... but I’ve already done that. Nostalgia is the problem here! Convincing my wife any other bike handles and feels as nice as her old workhorse has proven impossible. So now undertaking a typical labour of love to see if a reunion can be achieved between one person and that special bike from their past! Really not sure how likely I’ll find one, and no idea of the desirability of middle-ish range old Treks, but hoping it might be the type of trusty steed someone has retired to their garage. Her one was sadly, nastily pranged a few years ago. Since then she's barely cycled compared to before, but still mutters about her good ol' Trek!
Size-wise, they made 18”, 19.5” and 21” all the way up to 25.5". I reckon 19.5” would be perfect. But 21” may be okay, as she often prefers a larger frame. 18” maybe too small. I’ll need to look at some old photos to try to guess what hers was. But basically, if it’s yellow and the same bike I think she’d even be convinced of a 25.5” frame and a set of stilts! (Of course, any colour would suffice). Condition-wise I guess I'm willing to look at anything.
