Titanium, How do you tell if it is?

Hi guys, have recently acquired some USE Ti? Bars, but not really sure that they are Ti, look like Alloy to me, is there any do it yourself tests that can be done to see if they are Ti or Alloy ?

Si

take a 2p coin and scrap hard where you would pt the grips i its soft and leaves a big old scratch then its alloy simple really if it dont its ti

Colour is a give away, also wall thickness, if they're alloy, they'll be around 3mm, Ti probably about 1.5mm thick

Send it to me: if it's ti I'll keep it, if it's alloy I'll send it back to you. What better test is there?

Question of Ti

lol, pete, have tried the 2p scrape test and it seems pretty hard, it was just the colour that really confused me, all the Ti I have ever owned has always been a Ti colour, and this seems to be more of a alloy silver colour..is all Ti the same colour ?

Try & cut the bugger with a cheap hacksaw. If you can do it easily, it's alu. If the hacksaw blade slips off and you slice off a body part instead, it's ti.

Hugely confused now, does this mean its alloy or Ti. You guys !

Colour says Alloy, Hardness says Ti.. ?
