Tire Choices - Michelin Protek

I invite feedback from users of the Michelin Protek on their road bikes. How are they for longevity, traction in certain conditions, build quality and are they true to size. I am considering buying a set in 27" for an old road bike I recently picked up. Thanks for the input!

I'd not heard of this model. I don't suppose you can expect much from a £16-22 tyre - it'll work, have average grip, not be terrifically light, but have good puncture resistance going by the description. A good commuter tyre?

Having re-read your post 27" tyres are not so common, so you takes your chances. Michelin are good as you know so they'll be decent.

If you want a pair of new Specialized tyres I can hook you up for £45 posted (UK). I don't think I'll ever use them. Just indicate you're interested and I'll fish them out of the shed. From memory they're tan-wall and 27 x 1". Good, light folding original new in box tyres.

There’s 3 sets in the garage - excellent on the street, commendable on hardpack, horrible on sand/gravel, excellent puncture resistance, very low rolling resistance (80psi max), and reflex sidewalls for safety. I love ‘em! A commuter’s dream.

Hi Treader, thank you very much for the offer. I think by the time the exchange rate, postage, taxation and tarriffs take their bite, those tires would be $200. I'd like to see a 1-1/4"+ size too.

Hi, thank you for the feedback and opinion your Michelin Cross tires. Glad to hear they are working out. They tick a lot of boxes in a positive way. I usually ride the Schwalbe Marathon but am open to trying others. The Marathon is made in a 27" too.
