ti cassette info

retro bike people i would like some info on a cassette for my cycle
i have old hope non disc hubs not screw on cassette
the rings i have up front are middleburns 24 36 46
can i get a very light cassette still to go with these rings ?
i do lots of road comute to work stuff and blast allong the cannal and local wood trail no down hill or jumps not a lot of dirt i love to hammer hills to ..i am used to singlespeed so dont need super tiny gears for hills gives you and idea of my ride style ..would love a ti cassete tioga ? nos be good maybe cheers

I wouldn't advise it for a commute...you'll wear it out too quickly!

cheers ..comute everyday lots of wear on bike may get a xt or summat not so flashy ..are the tiogo ones ok ? and whats the lightest standard steel cassette 8 speed cheers

If you don't need tiny gears, save some weight with a road cassette. 11-23 or 12-25 weighs a lot less than 11-32. The easiest and cheapest way to save weight is to make things smaller or leave them off. Fancy materials cost money. For commuting miles, a Ti cassette makes no sense.

On my control tech carbon I have swithched to a Dura Ace 11-23(160g) Cassette 9 Speed. It replaced a Shimano XTR 11-30(208g). Its perfect for on road work, and I still have a triple at the front in case I get to a real steep hill. Saved lots of weight and allows me to maintain better cadence due to closer spaced ratios.
