Threaded or not?

Hi guys, this is a quick one...does anyone know if the pace RC100 had a threaded headset or the normal press on type?

Something tells me it was not threaded but im not sure. Im only asking because i ordered a headset which i assumed was non-threaded but it is a threaded type, so before i send it back i want to know for sure

Thank fellas.. 8)

If that's the original pace bike it used an upside down ahead system, bottom of the steerer/stem assembly clamped by the fork crown....... IIRC the first ones used a modified 105 headset(?)

Ok thank you..

Think I've just wasted a whole lot of money on something I can't use..what a numpty..

Will put it in the sales/swap section..its a NOS suntour xc pro threaded headset.

Might be with sticking some shots of what you have up.
Can see exactly what generation/version it is. My only direct experience of RC100s is that one of the pace blokes lived a couple of villages over!

Re:

It was not threaded, but it used a modified threaded headset, be it 105 or the XC pro,you need to butcher it. Have a look through some build threads as I have never done it.

Re:

Just been askein a pm but might as well rep!y here and hopefully I'll be corrected on the details.

The headset itself doesn't matter as long as it's a normal threaded style.

Now
Aheadset wasn't around back then.
So iirc from what I've read..

Take the top section of headset, throw the lockring away then machine out the threads of the threaded toprace (aka adjustable race)
I think that is it or a small shim may be needed to fill the gap where the threads would have been to stabilise it.

The steerer then pushes against this with its ring (remember this is a one piece stem steerer) and is clamped and tensioned at the fork crown end.
