Apart from probably damaging the threads on the fork, is there anything against putting an ahead stem on a threaded fork? Have you done it? And lived to tell the tale?
Plenty have done it and not died.
Apparently the steerer thickness of the threaded section is less, but then it's a steel steerer.
There are cheap threaded to ahead adapters available, they add a little weight but are a better solution to the problem than clamping a stem onto a threaded fork. Imo.

Yes, I've got one of those adapters on one bike but really I'm on the lookout for a reasonably good quill stem to replace it. My thinking is that clamping an ahead stem to a threaded fork is something of a last resort.
