There's at least a dozen US and EU patents and probably 4 or 5 versions of the same thing made it to production.

Yup, gotta love those student design project press releases "world changing" indeed , a bit of market research would have saved everyone a whole lot of time...see also:

At least these two actually do work a bit. I have had my hands on the wheelchair versions this very week.
However, whether £800/pair and 1.2Kg extra per wheel is worth the ride is a different question, when so much reasonable and cheap suspension is already available (for both bikes and wheelchairs).
