Watched the news on this the other day and wondered then what i am still wondering now, why did we not send in our own special forces. Subsequently it seems the be becoming more apparent that she was not killed by he hostage keepers and by Americans who threw a grenade. Wonder had the SAS gone in would it have been the same outcome why dod they not send them utter disgrace in my opinion.

That part of Afghan is under USA 'control' so they risked their men to get a Brit out. Who put her self in danger. She should not be there. It's a war zone.

It was a high risk op. They got the Afghan civilians that were working with her out alive.

NGO's should stay out until the situation it much (if) better

i have to agree with tony here guys, civvys should be banded from war zones because of just this sort of thing i feel sorry for her family but what was she thinking going out there in the first place, the main problem is no one shows these nieave people what a war zones like and if they do get shown they have had such sheltered lives they think "it wont happen to me" and "its just the news making it look bad" having had first hand experiance it's worse far worse than the news will ever print or report as people would be to shocked and appaled by the true face of things and refuse to belive what they see.

to anyone thinking of going out to help out DONT there's a good chance something nasty will happen to YOU so let the pro's do there job and hand out the aid it's what there trained for.

It is really important for independent people to be in and around war zones.

This was tragic, but it does not mean her work was not worthwhile.

I agree we would have made a better job of it, but that does not mean she would have made it.

Tragic.

no had we have sent our own troops in it may have resulted in the same outcome what i would be asking though if i was her family ius why was they throwing grenades if the intel they had didnt pinpoint where she was as it doesnt take a tactical genius to know you wont know who is in the area it lands

I remember the Iranian embassy siege. That was a close call. Hostages got murdered in that and one terrorist nearly escaped when he mixed in with the hostages. Hes now out of nick and living in the UK.

we weren't there in Afghanistan when this op went off. 6 of the terrorists also escaped

I have a friend doing important work for the British embassy in afghanistan, but I also have another friend (soldier) who has just had his leg blown off in the same region.

The whole situation is a mess, but we must let the experts do their job.
As for civilians, im torn on that one...
