The lure of titanium

Fascinating stuff that seems to attract you and make you want it.

Went to the opticians a couple of days ago for new glasses, with a set budget in my head and ended up spending a bloody fortune because they had a pair of titanium frame that weigh next to nothing and have magical toughness and metal memory.

Nice though

Just love the stuff, even found myself buying a pair of titanium scissors the other day, didn't need scissors, just wanted them because they were titanium... got a mug for the same reason and speccy glasses and a pen......

I had the titanium bug a few years ago and somehow ended up with a a pile of backpacking stuff that was titanium, even ti tent pegs which kind of become expensive if one looses them in the grass, and there their weight is increased by my fitting coloured material to them so I can't lose them, but their strength makes them far superior to the old ally pegs.

Currently I have an MSR titanium mug I use as an ashtray.

Titanium teaspoon? If I remember rightly Ti is very good at recovering its shape if bent etc., so one of those spoons should give Uri Geller a very hard day at the office.... :)
