Throw away society..... :x

does my head in.. :x
My thoughts exactly.

With the costs of most goods falling (relatively speaking) and the costs of services rising it is completely defeating the idea that we should stop throwing things away & chucking them in big holes in the ground.

Luckily most white goods can be recycled, but so much just gets thrown out because it's uneconomical to repair. It really winds me up something chronic

i hate it too, and if the £20 wasn't sacred (i only work 9hrs a week at the mo) i'd happily spend it, but £20 is half the weeks food budget.

why do you think I go down my local so often?

you could refurnish your house from car boot sales and recycling centres to a reasonable standard for less than £250, including white goods & electricals

I saw a feature on TV where some woman was able to do exactly that very cheaply because she was signed up to her local Freecycle group.

But I agree that we do live in a throwaway society -- so many people are obsessed with owning the very latest. That's probably why my mobile phone elicits so many surprised looks & comments when I pull it out of my pocket...
