tell me about proflex beasts.

i recently picked up a 97 proflex beast, and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on a few things.
first, how much rear travel does it have?

second, i assume with the name it was designed as a dh type bike, but its pretty light, anyone use one for xc type rides?

was thinking of building up as a modern inspird all mountain type bike, big tyres but fairly light.

any tips?

is it the world cup design one (swingarm pivot behind BB) or the x57 style (Expert series) with the longer swingarm pivoting in front of the BB?

yes that's it. Fine for XC, though you may want to change the forks (they look heavy :shock: ). Rear travel is around 3". Front ?4".

Rear shocks weren't too durable and are hard to replace. The only new option is this: http://www.risseracing.com/proflex.shtml

yeah thought the forks may be the down side. not too heavy actually, as have easton lowers, so will have them on there till another set of single crowns turn up.
