Taking out a good/fair BIN with a bid, good or bad? It can provoke some strong reactions on here but I guess I'm kinda with the early bird catches the worm and all that. So thoughts?

I'll take out a BIN with a quid if I believe the item wouldn't reach that price anyway. I don't want a bidder who doesn't know any better buying the item from under me. Most of the time with a bit of price research it works out for me. That's the view of a buyer.

Saying that, I've also bought many items on BIN as an early bird when of course the seller doesn't know any better and has listed a bargain.

As a seller If I was bothered about the selling price I'd start the item at a decent enough high price with a BIN slightly more to put off bidders even bothering.

So, neither good or bad, just part of the Ebay way.

remarkable results @100% in favour of good :? EDIT:so far

I think it depends on whether your desperate, skint, hopeful etc
As there isnt a 'depends' option,i abstain

As a buyer its usually a good thing for yourself, as a seller it doesn't bother me as i usually get plenty of mail offers or buy now requests anyway. I find it amusing when people moan on here that someone has bid- if you thought the bin was that good and its a problem others placed a bid them why not bin when you first saw it! An early bid instead of bin usually ends up in a decent saving

Never thought about. Capitalism for you. It's a dog eat dog world. Money rules

Not normally bothered but I watch lot's of bits and think it's a bit strange when people take out a BIN when it's low anyway. If you want the item just pay the low BIN? :?

Seen many items go for more then the original BIN.

I think most BIN purchases are by those that hate the auction format and all the run around with following an auction to the end. Many BIN buyers also have an emotional connection to the item they are buying. Then there's those BIN buyers that need that last bit to finish off a bike and are tired of getting beat out in auctions....anybody here fall into this category? :D
