Hi,

just bought this bike and wondering how old it is?

What was the original setup?

The number on the bottom is: WE3002157.

Looking at the way in which the badge is held on and the frame number I would says it way made in the 1st 2 weeks of March 1983

But the forks look newer.

Thanks a lot for the answer. Yes the fork is new but I have original also.

And one more think. As the frame and paint is in bad condition I'm wondering if there will be not bad idea to recover the paint from the beginning. And here comes question.

Where can I find this red colour specification?

I can do reproduction of decals myself but where to print it? What technic? UV, hard solvent? any idea what give the best results?

Thanks a lot in advance

Thomas

The colour code should be finable on line some where will be RAL - - - - code or some one on here may know it. Don't think there are that many RAL Reds.

For the decals if you can peal them off and stick them on paper I use this guy and his work is faultless

[email protected]

He will copy and re-produce them.

Here are some he did for me

Originals peeled from bike

New ones he supplied

Or you may be able to find them on line.

Re:

Looks like original, will contact him thanks.

Regarding RAL colour. It looks like RAL3001 or RAL3002 as I have RAL Classic index. But do I'm not sure if anyone use RAL colours 30 years ago.

Nice :)

Raleigh used their own internal colour codes. CFxx where xx was a 2 digit number. For example CF12 was the pale blue metallic on the Raleigh Arena. They also had a name for the colour in the brochure.

If you have the original forks try and match the paint code card to the paint that's steerer as that will not have faded like the rest.

Also most places can still make paint up to those codes

Well RAL 5005 was the blue they used on the 1984 bmx's and team Panasonic bikes :)

Hi.
if you look at http://www.kurtkaminer.com/Th-raleigh-serials.html you will find that the numbers are.
W for worksop.E for april and 3 for 1973.I have the same frame from 1975. Mine was the dl175 and would have been finished in flam candy red with white and blue panels.Your rear track ends are campag and the back end may or may not have been chromed plus the head lugs. mine are but this was produced at a time when the old carlton factory seemed to do pretty well what it wanted by all accounts. The fork would have been a flat crown track fork. Try putting raleigh track bikes into google and you should come up with plenty of photos
sorry just tried the above link and no works. The site is still there though as I just checked the info. Go through google if you want to see it.I dont know why the above link hit the wall as it gets me onto kurtkaminer.com then states the site is not there
