Has anyone refinished powerlites? If so any recommendations?

For me I follow the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" motto for forks... so I taped off the crown and painted the legs in place... You have to be careful... I had an old beat up powerlite that I tried to remove the legs... my mechanic and I tried everything to remove the bolts (he has s full machine shop...) and it was a no go... they were so ceased they started snapping...

If you want to remove them go for it but if they seem stuck be careful... once they snap you need a new crown... it's hard to explain but you can't use Heli-Coils...

IF I'm incorrect and there is a way to remove the broken stud on these and put in a Heli Coil let me know... But I'm quite sure there is no way since the threaded section is a wider hole than the upper hole.... so no way to get the heli coil in there... even if you did you would have to drill the hole bigger to accomodate the heli coil... this requires drilling the first pass through hole bigger too... that's the problem...

I see more problems disassembling my Gatorblade as it´s
blades are glued to the crown, too... :facepalm:

It's actually pretty easy if you know what you're doing.

How would I go about it? I am sending a Powerlite to Chris dekerf to have the legs replaced with Ti and would like to use the one with rotted steel legs because the dropouts are still good... Only issue is the broken crown studs
