you are correct, 172mm give or take. steerer tube is too long for what i want to use it on. am going to have additional threads cut in it and shortened to correct length. i don't think i'd want to attempt replacing it with correct length tube. would have to find on first. all extra cost too. cheaper to get mods done to threads.
