Suspension forks with threaded 1" steerer

I've been reading up on the Rock Shox Roubaix SL suspension forks and been rather taken by the idea of putting some (suspension forks) on my bike. The SLs are quite cool because the fit regular calipers. The weight isn't an issue (nor is the flex), but the price is A brand new pair is on eBay in the US for almost a grand so I can probably rule that out

There are some interesting 700c options around, both traditional and the funky suntour cantilever forks (with the spring inside the steerer but they're all 1 1/8. Does anybody actually make them with a 1" steerer option? (225 long). Or am I being silly?

I used a set of Marzocchi xc500 on a road bike years ago. the steerer was a clamp fit, so i removed it and machined off the 1 1/8th steerer near the base and brazed in a 1" steerer, worked just fine for years.

I've looked but can't find any If anyone knows where to get some I'm all ears. They don't come up on ebay often and are usually too short on the steerer (I need a 226 steerer tube for a 25" frame) I know they're supposed to be inferior to the Paris Roubaix SL but they'd be fine for me.

I think they are all as rare as chickens' teeth.

The easiest option to start with are Marzocchi as they have replaceable steerers. You can still buy RST steerer shims (1" to 1 1/8" for steerer crowns) and 1" steerers on eBay UK - then you can fit the smaller steerer. I did the exact thing recently to fit Z2s onto an Orange P7.
