Stunning TI Raleigh 753

My mate was lucky enough to get a properly authenticated ex pro bike with the riders initials only on the bb shell.

I have never come across a pukka sbdu without at least these markings. Imho the seller has taken a bog standard Team Pro 531 and carefully removed any identification and then had it resprayed. The killer would be to ascertain the seat pin size. If 27.2mm very unlikely to be a genuine Raleigh 753 sbdu. They should be 27.0mm for smaller frames and 26.8mm for large.

This would definitely nail it as a fraud.

Re:

you're wrong about the seat tube size - they ranged from 26.8mm to 27.4mm depending on which
model year of 753 tubes were used. my 1986 services des courses 753 was 27.2mm

Also depended on frame size if memory serves, the tubesets for the larger frames needed more strength so the tubes were thicker. Thicker tubes equals, thinner seat posts. Then there was the metric. / imperial thing : . This might have been in the earlier days of 753 and not apply to later frames
