Stuck Bolt...Help Required.

No, you need what I believe is called an easy out. It's kinda a reverse backward threaded thing, drill a hole in the offending bolt, screw in the easy out and as it tightens itself into the hole it unscrews the bolt.

For a soft alloy bolt stuck into a steel housing I'd tend to just drill it out myself.

Never really had much success with ezi-outs - just be steady with the drill, start with a nice small bit and ideally use a centre punch first.

That's what screw extractors are!

A stud extractor (as per the link in the OP) is different to an ezi-out -- they grip onto a protruding stud which is no use to the OP who has a bolt to remove

The other one which worked for me was to hit a torx bit into the head, this then was used to loosen it.

I used this two weeks ago on the stripped head of the eccentric adjuster on my tandem.

theres a bit of kit called a helicoil too.

drill a small hole in whats left of the bolt and then thread the helicoil in.
As the thread is backwards on the helicoil, it grips tight and turns out the other threaded part....if you get what i mean. :?

I think that's what I have just bought. A set of five for under £3 from Screwfix! Before I get medievel on the thing, any idea the size so I can find a replacement? I'm guessing around an M5 0r M6?
