Stooged by Wiggle...

After researching who had the best-priced 20mm axle 'all-mountain' forks for sale I purchased a Marzocchi 55 ATA (Kona OEM over-run) from Wiggle. I will openly admit that the price was fantastic & shipping (to Australia) was free! The fork arrived from the UK in 3 days! All seemed too good to be true... until I opened the package (a wheel-box no less  ).

Wiggle had sent me a Marzocchi 55 ATA2, not the ATA I had ordered.

The 55 ATA & the 55 ATA2 were advertised at the same 'clearance' price, which I thought was strange at the time as the ATA is a far superior fork. I quickly went online to see if there were any 55 ATA's (with 225mm steerer) left in stock & found that they were all gone. I sent an email off to Wiggle, explaining my predicament & fairly promptly received a reply stating that I would have to return my incorrectly shipped fork for a refund as the fork I ordered was out of stock.

A few hours later I went back online & found that 1 unit of MY fork was now showing as being in stock again but at a significantly higher price. (*I'll assume as the result of my complaint, someone did a stock check, found my fork still on hand, adjusted it into stock & upped the price  ).

I jumped onto a 'chat' sesion with a CS rep @ Wiggle to explain the situation & was just fobbed off.

Being in the bicycle industry all my working life (whoelsale for the majority of the time), I have not had call to purchase cycling goods online before but the price I was presented with for the fork I ordered was just too good to pass up. Defend them all you like but unless they get back to me with the offer of making comprehensive reparations (& i'm not holding my breath) this was my first & last experience with Wiggle.

Anyone here have a contact on 'the inside' that might be able to help me out???

Sorry you had a bad experience.

I've found them very good - I have used them a fair bit. On one occasion they short-shipped something and they couriered the bit to me at no cost.

Sad to hear your story.

Nothing but good dealings here.

After a delayed delivery on a pair of forks they arranged for an AM Saturday delivery to save me hanging about.

Not bought from them in a while though.

Small stuff

Small stuff is generally fine but larger items, especially if they aren't in stock then I have found them pretty poor. Poor communication as well.
I ordered a Surly long Haul Trucker frame a couple of years ago. They said 5 - 7 days and after 2 months told they wouldn't be getting any for a few more months.
Last year I ordered my Surly 1 x 1 from them as they were the only ones with stock as I didnt want the 2011 model. Again I was told that no problem, once I ordered it would be 5 -7 days. This was early September, when I paid, after I had sold my old SS to fund it. quite a few weeks go by being told its coming from the distributor then around 6 or so weeks later I checked the status online and it said due for delivery Jan2011, no email no nothing, just left me hanging. At least they were quick with the refund and understood I wasnt waiting that long.
Ended up with one cheaper from Pasquel in France but still, as I said small consumables I buy from them but nothing major.

OMFG!

After a significant amount of emails back & forward with Wiggle, I received a(n insufficient) discount on the fork that was mis-shipped & re-ordered the fork I wanted.

A parcel arrived today... containing the same bloody fork I received (in error) the first time! What are these muppets on?

Back to the emails...

what a nightmare, they try and make you stump up return postage too, make sure you get confirmation they are paying before the return is sent.

Wiggle

I also only pay wiggle and crc with paypal so if its not right then they will help sort it out.

That's what your Credit Card company is there for too. If find mine is easier to deal with than PP.

I reckon there's a bloke in the stock room at wiggle who has made it his life mission to mess with you.. he's gonna mail you ATA2's every week until you crack.

Give em heaps Arran, that's poor service at it's poorest.
