Afternoon all

My RTS has been away for a week whilst the boyz at Pauls Cycles, Dereham fixed my Rock Shox.

Whilst they had it in their possession, they noticed that the headset bearings were a little worn so popped some new ones in for me :D

My ever kind parents picked it up for me, so as I didnt collect it, I only noticed when having a quick spin round the block last night the the headset is quite stiff.

So, will this bed in (ie its still full of grease at the moment) or have they in some way put it all together wrong???

Are we talking a-head here Jon? If so they may have put too much tension on the bearing via the star-fangled washer.

Yep, its Ahead set.

So, in theory, if I loosen the top cap bolt slightly, it'll ease a little?

Need to loosen the stem clamp bolts first, but yes.

Ok, I am acting a bit blonde here.

To clarify, loosen stem clamp bolts (marked 2) then loosen top cap (marked 1), then tighten clamp bolts up again?

you've got them marked the wrong way round. Loosen stem clamp bolts (marked 1), loosen top cap bolt a fraction (marked 2) then retighten stem clamp bolts.
