Sticky hoods

Does anyone else have a problem with their brake lever hood becoming sticky after a while if so what do you do to clean them is it just a case of soap and water.

Silicone lube helps the rubber be preserved. Talcum powder helps keep them less sticky...

I had some Dia-Compe ones go sticky then end up the consistency of chewing gum. I have no idea of a cure. The replacements seemed to be made of a different material.
