Stem size for Kona Lava dome circa 1992

Hi everyone, hoping one of you can help me. As I am a little older know I wish to raise the handlebar position on my old Kona Lava Dome. I bought it in 1993 but think it was a slightly older model. It is a Joe Murray velocity stem (original part) but wish to know it's diameter and specs so that i can buy the correct raiser stem. Are they a standard size or is it more complicated?
The raiser i was looking at said for a 1 and 1/8" size. would that be right?
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hello and welcome. As mynchyboy says the steerer for that age Kona should be 1 1/8" external diameter. The internal steerer diameter is 1". A quill stem listed as 1 and 1/8" should be fine, as they should be listed by external steerer diameter.

Could you raise up your current Velocity stem a bit or maybe someone here could swap you for one with more rise angle?

Re:

Much appreciated answers. I'm going to go with the one I saw then and hopefully will encourage me to get back in the saddle again. Thanks again.
