I have raleigh roadster with an ag 3pd sturmey archer hub. The original sprocket fitted is 18tooth, with a dished cup. chain is 1/8th inch original. I would like to change it for something larger if possible as it will be easier to pedal! anyone know of any issues with this, how , supplier of dished sprockets higher than 18tooth. Also has anyone experienced doing this and did teh larger sprocket help - issue wth the chain case accommodating it? Thanks

Re:

If your hub has the circlip and splined type of cog it is easy to remove, but there were very few larger ones in the Uk, possibly some in USA.

If it is the earlier threaded type you must take the driver out (4 prong piece the the cog is screwed on) and there are some plain threaded cogs originally for fixed wheel use. You can select one which you can space out with washers.

The driver is dropped out by undoing the cone, there is only a loose coil spring to fall out.

Plenty of info out there.

I don't know my SA cogs but there are usually quite a few on eBay, new and used. Search for 'Strumey Archer cog' and you'll find them.
