Hello
I have been offered a set of nice condition clincher Heliums (original red rim type) for £75 including a VGC Mavic 10 speed Campagnolo-spaced cassette and the original skewers.
I am very tempted as they will sit well with my Columbus Nemo steel frame from about the same period.
My concern is whether it is still possible to get spokes for these wheels - the rears look like plain gauge silver straightpull spokes but I can't believe that Mavic have made it that simple. Also, I don't know what type of spoke the front hub needs as they are seated under a cover.
Just as I was starting to love the Helium concept, I removed the cassette and found that what appears to be a Shimano freehub body......disappointing as I wanted to use a Campag cassette with a different ratio. What is the potential to change the freehub, do you know if it is compatible with later 10 speed Campagnolo freehubs?
I would be very grateful if someone can share their knowledge of this wheelset, firstly about the spokes, secondly about the freehub and finally the price.
Thank you
Tim
