Split Crown Race Gap (My Mistake Sorted)

Just fitting a 1" split crown race to a pair of 1" Tange forks.
It fits snug and the steerer is bare metal clean. But that gap seems somewhat large. I'm used to solid crown races and have the tool for them.

What do you think?

None that i've seen, but it is only there to push the sealed bearing race on to. Fit it and see if it works.

Gap looks larger than I've seen previously, usually on mine 2-3mm.

That said, there's more contact than not, so if it works it works. Burr marks suggest someone's done a homemade job on a once complete race

The burr marks are from my reverse caliper to open it up.

I reckon @benjabbi is right. That's no crown race. Looks like a compression ring from the top of the headset. Should be flipped the otherway around...

Sorry just realised I posted an integrated headset. But same principle applies, just missing the cups in the middle between top and bottom bearing...

Ay, that's right!!! Feel like a right doofus now. At least it's an easy swap.
No instructions with it, so just looked up a schematic that looked right for the fsa orbit.
