Subaru legacy estate GT-B(twin turbo 280bhp
) is also good, and similar to a stagea size wise.
I had a Legacy outback estate 2.5 non turbo auto, excellent car but v. juicy if you have a heavy right foot

I had a W124 300E, loved it, beautiful engine. I had great fun once on the A9 north of Aviemore with a boy racer in a Calibra who couldn't understand how no matter what he did i could stay behind him with no noise or drama. Until I got bored and overtook him.
Sorry, an old Skyline will be a false economy... will take some up keep that baby. Unless you are good with the spanners...
