Old School Grand Master
So, as you do, 16 years old, just out of college, after 8 months of a job search-style course, i sent off a bucket full of application forms.. had a birthday.. and completely by chance, i get a call back about a application i sent off for a apprentiship, saying when can you come in, and they then say friday, at 11 am.. All good, till they say it's the other end of Doncaster :? not far you'd think, till you know i'm in between huddersfield and barnsley, so, out for 8 30 for the first train, sheffield transfer, and a bus, 2 and a half hours later, i'm there, for 5 minutes, the only other guy too get through too interview doesn't show, so.. jobs in the bag :) i got the job today, only i've too be in the training place, other end of doncaster, 1 day a month, for 9 am.. so 6 30 train.. fun.. :) i'm happy though, and it could spur me into selling off my bikes. :?

Between Huddersfield and Barnsley: That's Penistone or Holmfirth-ish then.

Congrats. But 2 1/2 hours on public transport? Would take less then that by bike!

So what car you getting?

*sniggers* Penistone

Funny thing is nobody local used to make the lewd connection. Pronounced Pen as in the writing impliment. Don't know if people are more aware of it these days.

Anyway - Give Kate Rusby a kiss from me.

The ride over the moors to Ladybower is still one of my favourite rides ever.

Who? And i've never rode the moors

Kate Rusby's a folk singer. Still based in your town but pretty successful in her field.

Ride over the moors - you must do this. Wait till it's dry though - a good stretch of it is unrideable in the wet. And don't ride alone like I did - it's pretty bleak and isolated most of the way.

View when you get to the last high point, looking down over Ladybower is incredible. Tracks are great. I used to ride out from Ardsley on my Carerra Krakatoa when I was new to MTBing after uni.
