Hi Guys,

Have just bought a Marin Eldridge Grade (being delivered tomorrow). Condition looks ok:

My questions are:

What would be the best thing to use to clean up the whole bike, components etc?

Can i still get stickers/decals?

Seat post may be stuck, seller said it might just need some elbow grease, have a feeling it could need more than that!

And i saw the same bike posted a while back with black and orange tyres, anyone know where i might pick some up from?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks

Strip it completely. Wash the chain, sprockets, derailleurs, chainrings etc in a good degreaser, and wash everything, wheels and all else in hot soapy water, then in Muc-Off. Rinse it off, dry it down and polish it.

If the seat post is properly stuck, take the BB out, turn the bike upside down and pour some of that anti-seize stuff (what the hell is it called? I forgotted) down into the seat tube. Would be easier if the bike had seat tube bottle cage mounts cos you could take a bolt out and squirt it down that way, but it doesn't seem to have them. Leave for 24 hours and have a go at wrenching it out.

If the seat post is stuck then the stem will probably need a good clean and lube too. Grease the headset bearings while your're at at it.

Dunno 'bout stickers and tyres tho, anyone?

Wash it, clean it with a cloth, use degreaser on the drive train (lots of different makes eg Muc Off, Fenwicks etc). Use a dishwasher only if your other half will never find out

Try using something like Plusgas or penetrating oil, lots of threads covering this issue on here.

No idea, sorry, maybe find that thread and ask the bikes owner?
