SOLVED: Identify Shimano 8-speed shifter [XT-M008]

Can anyone identify this Shimano 8-speed shifter?

It came with a bike I've bought, but there's no serial number or any indication on it apart from the logo.
The texture of the housing is rubbery all around, except for the logo plate which is piano glossy smooth, if that helps.

Its a m008 shifter. Sort of a XT level. If im looking right.

You'll find it in the 1996 XT groupset, and other years.

For the record, the full M number would be ST-M008 ...


... Which is odd because it should really have the code SL-M008
