Firstly Tesco cancelled the food delivery 'adverse weather conditions'.... yet didn't think about putting more vans on the following day to ensure the 300 odd people who were 'stuck' were sorted with their christmas food deliveries!

And now....the boiler has packed up, some Ariston thingummyjig showing the error code of A-03 and A-01 (failing to ignite). So, have my landlord's agent actually working for the rent I pay to get it fixed before Christmas hits!

Right now I'm armed with a large suitcase, some hessian bags and am about to get the bus to a local Sainsbury's...... will probably have to get a taxi back. *sighs*

Bah fkin HUMBUG!!!!!

I too will be venturin' to the supermarket..............watchin' Ken Branagh's Shackleton film to brace meself up for it!! :P

i went to tesco in scunthorpe late last night. i fail to accept that a tesco in a town so small can attract so many people late at night.

i remember when i was a kid and shops were closed at sensible times in the day and on sundays. saturday was weekly big shop and the supermarket was always jam packed with other saturday big shoppers. fast forwars 20 years and supermarkets are open all the time and rammed all the time.

we will all work for tesco one day soon

Yeah i noticed that too, but I think it may be because we use our high streets less. I remember in my home town people were using the local shops a lot more than they do now, this is in the early 90's

And we buy way too much food now... they say one in every three shopping bags bought it thrown away, that's not including the shop / restaurant waste

Only thing to get thrown out of our house is veg peeling, bones, sshells etc and that goes in the composter, never look at dates on packets, waste of time.

Yep! Weirdly online shopping makes you buy less, our 10ish day shop (2 adults 2 kids) comes to about £100, I can easily do that in nice 'bits' and they'll last a few days if I actually go in the shop, walking around seeing things I want and buying them, most of which is unnecessary crap! Online shopping srtops you from doing that! Plus you have an ongoing balance in the top left of the screen, which works wonders for budgeting

Sainsbury's was jammed solid, although everyone was cheerful. I still say that if you're going to supermarket leave the sodding children at home, please! It's not an adventure course for kids you know!

Wasn't too bad really, even the queues although long were being well managed and free chocolates were being handed out which was lovely too!

Had to pop across to Waitrose mind for some final bits and pieces, now all set.

Neil the plumber is here tomorrow morning fixing the boiler, once that's done I'll do a quick pop to town and then get the flat spruced up a bit ready for Chrimble.

Huzzah!!!

Though I thought it was supposed to be a relaxing time, quite!

Bah Humbug.... engineer came and went, conclusion: the boiler's buggered and needs replacing. This is for my landlord to sort out, funny though it's only just over a year old...... mind you I have heard that Ariston's are crap

So, not hot water nor heating for Christmas, joy of joys. The kettle will be being boiled many times over the coming days and I'm hoping the top floor neighbours wil let us use their shower, .....I hope!!

Meh!

Fitting an Ariston to a rental property is just a false economy, better to fit a Potterton and get zero hassle than fit cheap crap and get hassle.

Bad luck :(

We're on bottled gas for hot water, and when we have run out we can fill the bath surprisingly quickly with 4 pans on the hob and the kettle onthe go in rotation.

Well when i say fill.... i mean a puddle thats enought to wash in.

Sod's law means you allways fall off on the gear side of the bike where you can do the most expensive damage :?
