does anyone on here know anyone that does snowflaking on wheels, might be tempted to stick em on my lts
I cant quote from seeing any finished work, but I have heard from a couple of bike shops that the guy who builds snowflake wheels at the Evans in woking is very good at it and never had one come back in. Whether that is any good for you, I dont know!

Dan

The guy at my sort of local bike shop can do them I think, we had a convo about snowflakes a month or so ago.

He has built about 3000 sets of wheels and has tried a lot of different styles and types of spokes. Any halfway decent bike shop that builds wheels should be able to do it.

Give them a call, worth a shot. John at Trax in Buntingford. I dont have a number to hand but try googling trax bike shop, Buntingford (Hertfordshire).

Whats the point of snow flake lacing?

1. It looks pretty, or

2. It looks like you've had a crash and not laced your wheel back together properly

Choose one of the two ;)

Snowflaking offers absolutely no advantage over regular lacing, apart from the fact that occasionally people will question your "weird front wheel", and bike shops will curse you if/when you take the wheel in to be trued..

Saying all that though, I had a couple of snowflake wheels back in the mid-90s and I thought I was the kiddy..! My local bike shop thought I was a PITA mind you..

I thought I'd ask first because I know the answer, there is no point to snow flake lacing. I mean how can you have consistent tensioning on spokes wrapped round each other and the nipples pulled at a angle in their holes? :?

Well for me I have cruisers so its mainly about the looks, not sure what the original query was about. I didnt get snowflakes in the end, bit ''busy'' for me and I didnt just want them on the front wheel as you cant do this on the back wheel.

I have just got some 65mm black rims with 80% stainless 12gauge spoke and the rest black ones in strategic places to create a cool design and I love them.
