Sizing issues

Hi guys,,

Maybe this has been asked before but how do you work out the sizes for nuts/bolts/washers etc..

Found a workshop today that manufactures aerospace grade 5 Ti (6/4) bits n bobs to order.. theres a few bolts and washer that I would like to change over to Ti but not sure on how to work out the sizes I need..

Anyone help on this..

Si

Measure the diameter of the thread. (screw bit) You shouldnt need to know the pitch as they are standard ( there are some options in some sizes, but they are not commonly used, especially on bikes)

all you should need to give is the diameter & length. eg. M5x25mm

3mm allen key = M4 thread (jockey wheel bolts)
4mm allen key = M5 thread (bottle cages etc)
5mm allen key = M6 thread (SFN bolt,canti's)

Thanks guys , much appreciated... If anyone else is after any bolts etc, let me know as It will be cheaper for all if its one order ;)

After talking to the guy at the Ti workshop, he seems to be willing to manufacture most things out of Ti, not sure of prices or quality yet... :)

But sounds promising...

Just think.... Ti Custom stems/cranks . mmm
