Singlespeed chain tension

After ordering a new chain I have gone back to the original length chain I was asking about! When putting an extra link on the chain was slipping under pressure (not enought tension). Solved this by taking away one link, hopefully it is not too tight (pictures in readers bikes), anyone else had this issue?

Trevor....I think a push-up tensioner would be better..bit more chain wrap, but if the set-up you now have works...no problem.
