Slightly odd topic but I know there are some skilled craftsmen on here so perhaps some advice.
We have a cup presented in 1949 for the club BAR that is silver. It is hall marked and feels weighty so I assume it is solid. I don't think they bothered much with plating BITD.
Anyway; there was an engraving error which we asked the engraver to fix if he could; sadly he made what I consider to be a pigs ear of it ...
He ground the engraving off then re-engraved over the ground area ... this area is "rough" and it is hard to read the engraving ....
Any tips; I am working on the premise that the best route forward is to polish the ground area back to a reasonable finish ... but I thought you lot may have some ideas ...
