Topped up my SID's the other night. top chamber was fine and held it's pressure when the pump was detached. But the lower chamber would'nt hold it's pressure when i released the pump.

I was pumping them upside down so the pil didn't run out and using a decent pump.

It put the air in fine and stayed in as long as the pump was still on, but in unscrewing it it dumped all the air instead of the tiny amount that escapes normally.

Have cleaned out the valves and even degreased them and started again.

Anyone shed any light on why this is happening.?

Knackered valve? Seal somewhere?

Help please......

:?

Sounds like valve rather than seals - what about a touch of oil on the pin, it could be sticking in a bit?

[although I must say there's always oil in there anyway on mine]

If you have persistant issues with them I can ask my friend who services all the forks for Evans if he can shed any light on the problem.
Another reason to ride the Cross Bike

I use a topeak DXG Non loss pump. Works bloomin fantastic!
