During this wintery weather I'm amusing myself trying to build a "gravel" bike out of a retro MTB, and I've been contemplating how much of a saddle to handlebar drop I can mamage. In 30 years of riding bikes, this is the first time I've ever even bothered to measure such a thing, having generally just adjusted the bar/stem height to what feels comfortable.
It turns out both my main retro bikes have a drop of 11 cm:
But with drop bars this increases to 19 cm (hoods) and 26 cm (in drops):
... which seems a lot but is probably similar to my 94 Diablo with the awkward long, low stem:
... or my old Haro Extreme:
Anyone else riding retro bikes with a big saddle to bars drop? If so, please show me what you're riding so I don't feel like such a lanky long-armed freak![Laugh  ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
