Well, I contacted the seller and asked if they'd consider sending internationally, and if not if they'd be open to me using an intermediary in the US to ship it on (along with asking some other questions about the forks), and all I got back was a flat 'I wont send internationally'. And then no response to my follow up email which again asked about the possibility of using an intermediary, so they'd not be sending anything internationally.
I don't 'need' the forks as such (bet we can all say that about something we want!). If it wasn't for the fact that it's got a 1 1/4 inch threaded steerer that's just the right length I'd not be worried and I'd just let it go, but I'm not sure they come along so often.
Thanks gm1230126 for letting me know about it costing $37.50 - I think it may have been you too who helped me out on the MTBR forum with identifying a factory in Taiwan involved in the production of my old Gary Fisher.
Any further advice/help is warmly welcomed, though I'm thinking it may just be much less hassle to let this one go and put a wanted ad in these forums!
