pending confirmation on a fat Chances's frame size i need to find a cheap postage quote from the USA (i've a friend of the missus in the US happy to bid and accept it) alas all the shipping quotes are in the 300 hundred quid range. i'm not fussed on getting it in 3 days.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a reasonably priced shipping company? or got any experience of doing this?

I had a 19" Dekerf frame sent from Seattle for about $50 via USPS (insured). It took a couple of weeks and I had to pay duty at the parcelforce depot.
I've seen a couple of frames over there that I fancy, but many sellers just don't seem to want to consider it.They would prefer to spend more via UPS or Fedex.
If you're looking at a BIG frame though, be aware that there is a box size, about that that will fit a large frame, where the cost doubles!
There's certainly no need to spend all that though!

it's a complete bike ><

looks like i'll have to find an alternative of give it a miss

When you get to this size of box, weight doesnt, witghin reason, matter.
Frame in one box, and all the other stuff in another.
2 boxes at $50 each. Surely the seller would be prepared to remove forks, pedals and rear mech?

I sent a bike over to Mr. K last year in two boxes-one for the wheels, and one for everything else. It went USPS from California to Manchester in about 12 days and cost $185.00 for both boxes. The large box with the frame, fork and all the bits that weighed the most was about $135.00 and the box with the wheels was slightly less than $50.

Unfortunately the friend of a friend doesn't want to repackage or break it down to forward it on (it's a bit much to ask her anyway!) so that as they say is that shipping and tax/duty will kill it so i'll leave it.
