I always thought of these as LX until recently. The Red Deore DX set is M601, and these are identical (i have both sets and compared them) while the LX levers are different. So by deduction these must be unlabeled Deore DX before they went BMX.

Just some free info to help your sale

M600

No,these are M600,which is Deore lx level, from around 1997.They are exactly the same as the DX except for the colour, and originally, you could only buy the DX with a right hand lever, for all of us awkward bmx riders who only have one brake. :D :D

I've got some deore LX v brake levers (i'll check the code tonight) and the full set of M600 levers and cantis and the full set red DX levers and cantis (M601). The LX levers are different to my DX and M600's. I'll take photos tonight. But the M600 and M601 are identical bar colour.

they were always assumed to be LX but like you say M6** is deore dx, M5** is LX. a shimano oddity.

:?

Right, lets see if we can clear this up.

This is Deore LX M570

And this is M600 and M601

Notice the different mechanismsfor the brake power adjuster.
I don't have Deore LX V-brake cantis to compare also, but the M600 and the Deore DX are the same.

Shimano is confusing. They did used to lable the old DX stuff as just Shimano sometimes or just Deore, right?

Incidently, I have an STX-RC set too, and they have a similar set-up to the LX levers :?
