Shimano 600 headset

Hi, is there an easy way to remove the steel bearing races from a Shimano 600 headset?
One has come out easily but the one in the locknut is very not coming out.
Any tips? I'll try heating it tomorrow.

Have you tried boiling water? The aluminium expands more than steel.

Maybe pop it in the oven while the wife's out tomorrow.

Aren't they just a standard caged ball race that should normally just fall out? I'm sure I've got/had a few 600 parts that never had any attached bearings?

I think rampage wants to remove the steel races that are inserted into the alloy headset.

Well, every day is a schoolday. I didn't know they come out and can be replaced.
