Shifter clamps

I’m trying to split my 7 speed rapid fire shifters away from the brake levers so as to upgrade the brakes. Problem finding a Shimano handlebar clamp to hang them off. Any ideas anyone?

Hi,
I think you could use the silver clamps of STX-RC shifter pods, or those of a certain series of LX pods too.
Think I have a set of plastic Magura mounts in the parts box for that purpose that I haven't got round using, so could see if I can dig them out, if you're interested.

Re:

That’d be great as I’m trying to get some Magura HS11 hydraulic rim brakes on my old steel tandem as currently I am using a calendar to measure stopping times !!!

Theres two types of clamp and the associated shifters are not really compatible without a bit of faffness

The original 7spd rapid fire from the XT, DX and very early black LX will not fit the later STX/ ST-RC/ Alivio mounts.

The older shifters have locating pins that are different to later clamps. You can try and just bolt them together but you run the risk of the shifter twisting around.

Re:

It depends on how much you want for them and whether it’s worth the ‘faffness’ to make them fit. I reckon I could get them to work but they don’t appear to have locating pins for the holes in the shifter which as said may be an issue. My only other alternative route would be a project for a mate with a 3D printer.
