Really heavy duty chains: http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/

I would consider a motion sensor and alarm; I was listening to some security expert on the radio a while back, he suggested that while people often ignore alarms, it takes a very gutsy thief to stick around whilst one is going off.

Good looking chains :) and i agree, an alarm is a good deterrent. The best alarm of course is a dog, as long as it barks obviously, and doesnt just wag its tail excitedly

Re:

I was thinking an Almax chain would be a good investment until seeing that £100 squire padlocks they sell with them are still fairly easily cut open.

Also for 5+ bikes is it better to opt for one long chain or two shorter ones?
