Picked up something interesting this morning...and included was a Shannon seat-post.
Never heard of them?

Yes, German and they look pretty much alike Roox. I wouldn't be surprised if Shannon produced them for Roox. You can still buy the post new and they are around since at least early 90s.

And they are one of the only producing 500mm length.
Looked very nice and classy and still do I think.

Hi Carl,

i remember that there were two different seatposts from Shannon back in the days. "Shannon MTB Light" and "Shannon Hardcore". There were different screws used on both and if yours is an "MTB Light" the best thing you can do is to get rid of the aluminium screws. They are not save.
I always wanted a Shannon post back then because it was an available and affordable alternative to a Ringlé Moby seat post. They came in red, blue, black and silver and you are right they are made in Germany. A quick Google research says they are still in business and there is a third seat post now made of carbon.

Thanks Adam and everyone.....the packaging says 'light' so I guess it's a light Silver with black clamp....and long..500mm?
I will take your advice and replace the screws if I use it.
