I haven't used a shadow rear mech so cannot share an opinion. But I've a nice Exage 300LX long cage you can have for cost of postage?

Think 300lx is too god for my rinsin ride.

I've the 2008 XT shadow mech on my alpinestars modern build and it has'nt missed a beat to date. Really smooth and good looking too. The cable route is a bit odd though.

Got the XT shadow, and it err, just kond of sits there and changes gears really :?

Good thing is the cable routing, and the seperated pivot kind of makes some sense when you look at it. No barrel adjuster, so need the one on shifters.
Some say, its as fragile as a bone china cup. All I know is, it works.
