Saving an Orange C16R

Bought an Orange C16R on eBay this week and started the strip down today.

She is in a bit of a mess, but someone, once upon a time, loved her.

Lots of blue and red anodised parts. Even the cable ferrules are blue on one end and red on the other. This theme is also on the seat clap and the wheel skewer ends.

FiR Impes (I found out today) rims on LX Parallax hubs, XT V brake rear, XT canti up front. Orange Sk8 stem and Hyperlite bars. STX FCM31 cranks and some nice blue Avid SD 2 levers and blue anodised pedals.

Here she is from the auction listing.

I've just stripped her down ready for a clean, got some surface rust but I will take care of that. The stem is pretty rusted but hoping its just surface rust. The rest of bike and crank arms are just pure dirt so hoping a through clean will do the trick.
I've had to soak the grip shift locking bolts in Plus Gas as they are stuck.

More pix and updates to follow.

Re:

Dismantled now, only a few bits of surface rust on the top tube and downtube near the head tube and a bit on the forks.

Already started to rub her down in prep for a touch up.

Here is the collection of bits that have come off. Only stubborn parts are the pedals and one of the allen bolts holding on a grip shift (which I will have to drill out).

Let the clean up commence.

Yesterday saw the decals off and the bike cleaned and painted and the crank cleaned.

Today it's the wheels turn. Dismantle, clean, lube and rebuild. All spokes are in great condition, most of them were lose anyway so though it would be easier to clean if they were taken apart.

Front wheel all cleaned, ready for re-lacing.

it came up really clean which was nice as it was filthy. Mainly brake rub residue and no tarnishing, which was a pleasant surprise.
