Saracen Super Edition 1990?

Bowenlee79

Retro Newbie
Hi all
I have recently picked up a Saracen Superr sedition mountain bike which I believe is from 1990. It’s in good condition and seems to have all original components. Tan walk tires, branded seat. Looks good which is why I bought it. My question is are they worth anything? A collectors item or a nod to ones gone by and just to ride and enjoy?
Many thanks in advance.

Re:

I think that's a ride-and-enjoy bike. As far as value is concerned, I think the old saying applies: it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Since you've just bought it, its cash value is probably pretty much what you paid for it. It's not like an Antiques Roadshow special where a £5 curio at the boot fair turns out to be worth thousands. Sorry.

This should be in the MTB -->1997 section, by the way: that's what LGF was saying.

Re:

Hi. Thanks that's fine. I was out looking for a cheap ride around during lockdown and cam across the bike. I liked the retro build and everything runs smooth so I took it on. I'll certainly ride it and enjoy doing so. A world away from my full suspension mtb which is locked in the shop awaiting repair. Many thanks

Re:

That looks in pretty good condition, I had one the other year, its not a bad bike, they don't sell for very much, but that means you can have a decent retro Mtb to ride around on for not much money :D
Probably one to keep and ride tbh.

Re:

Thanks all. I love the styling and have had a few good comments and 2and glances when I'm out and about. I'll continue to ride and enjoy

Great name typo....

Hi Bowenlee79 and all,
I just love that name in the OP text, whether created by spell checker or typo.
It really should exist, a Saracen Super(r) Sedition.
Definition of sedition: Conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.
A great name for an off-road bike!
I hope you have copyrighted and registered it as a model trademark!
That's brightened up my morning under lock-down.
Thanks and Regards,
Robin.
