anyone got any good spray for stopping bikes in the loft or shed rusting?

my bikes are freezing cold and covered in a layer of moisture. not good.

i assume wd40 would work but wondered if theres anything less messy.

thanks for looking fellas, joe

It's not perfect but I wrap items (when the are totally dry) in clingfilm, it protects from damp and scratches, it might be awkward on a full frame or bike though.

but if it wasn't totally dry you would be trapping moisture inside.

Rakas17 - is this long term storage or will you be getting the bikes out on a regular basis?

The outside should be painted or something anyway so you really just need to sort out any chips and existing rust spots. The problem is the bare metal insides. You could pump waxoil or something into the frames if you don't mind the weight.

The thing is any spray product less messy that WD40 is likely to be more permanent instead.

Get a little parrafin greenhouse heater, they're totally safe to use and cost pennies to run.It will drive out any condensation
Makes it more comfortable to visit you 'man cave' in the cold winter evenings :D

yes, that's why you need to make sure, I leave items indoors near a radiator for a few days - but not everyone has that luxury. - and the only items I have done are fairly small.

if its going in the loft the best theing to do is keep it ou to f the loft say under a bed till its dried out then wrap wax polish it then wrap in news paper heavily place in a card board box and store works every time

if its your shed knock it down and build a nice brick building thats got power and a double glassed window and call it the best work shop ever   ps kettle is a good thing in there too i call mine the nag-free zone

ACF-50 is the stuff you want, bit messy but will stop any rusting. I spray my motor bike with it every winter and when cleaned off the finish is kept pristine dispite being driven in nasty salt covered roads. :D
