Rotrax VEL D’HIV 1955

Hi all ,
I was fortunate to have been given this frame by the previous owner Anthony Morriss who used to ride for Crabwood CC (Southampton) formed in 1943 and still running today.
1955 Rotrax VEL D’HIV model built by Rotrax which used to be based in Shirley high st , Southampton.
Fortunately It was already built up with various parts that I was able to restore and use for the rebuild.
The frame had a couple of dents and was missing the seat pin bolt clamp so I managed to make one up and had it fillet brazed on, thue dents were also filled with braze and smoothed off flush.
I kept the original chrome on the ends and had the frame powder coated by PWS Finishing using Copper Illusion plus from prismatic powders.
Original head badge and new decals from H Llyods.
So after nearly 2 yrs I’ve finally got round to the build up.

It’s been over a year since I last contacted Tony so I’m just about to send him some pictures through, I hope he likes it and makes his X-mas day a special one.

The guy who powdered it (Superbike Dan) has a lot of experience doing bike frames, He mostly serves the Old School Bmx community.
This has a superchrome base coat with the copper top coat , I’ve also had frames done in candy blue , candy Purple and black with teal metal flake, they all turned out flawless aswell.

Yeah that will be coming , I’d like to give a go on the track first , & was thinking about the outdoor one in Bournemouth, Spring time probably .
